I’m coming home 25.10.07
Today has been the most exciting day of my life so far!!
Today, Carol and Mark arrived to take me to their new home. Before I left I said a very sad farewell to my mummy and one of my brothers and a sister, as the others have already left. However even when saying goodbye I could not quite contain my excitement.
I also have now got a name of my own. Apparently my new name is to be Eddie, but for some reason I also seem to be called a ’Little Rascal’. I like the Eddie bit, but I only seem to be called Rascal when I have done something which is a bit naughty, like biting the shoelaces on Mark’s shoes. However they haven’t really shouted at me at all, and they seem really pleased to be taking me home.
Carol gave me a new little teddy bear which she said was one of my new toys. She told me I have loads of little toys waiting for me at my new home, so I can’t wait to get there. She then picked me up and took me outside to this metal house which they called a car. This was really scary as it was so noisy and kept moving. I couldn’t sit still because the car kept going around corners or stopping and this kept knocking me off balance. Mark was steering the car but Carol kept cuddling me and telling me not to be scared. She said I would get used to the car and it would become more exciting in the future.
We were in this car for what seemed like ages, but eventually we stopped and Carol took me into my new home. It seemed really large as I was allowed to go into all the downstairs rooms and there was loads of these. I learned there was a living room, a dining room, a study, bathroom, conservatory and a kitchen. I was told that initially I would spend most of my time in the kitchen where I would be fed and play, but I was also to be allowed into the living room part of the time. They also showed me the study as this was where my little house was kept.
Carol then showed me where the newspaper was put, and she also took some into the living room just in case. I was trying to tell her that I knew how to use this, but I let myself down as I forgot where the paper was and couldn’t wait to find it. However neither Carol nor Mark shouted at me, they just said it didn’t matter and I would soon learn. I knew then that I was going to love being here.
Not only did Carol and Mark buy me a little cuddly toy to play with, but I also had a little ball and a funny squeeky toy. We played for hours with this until I couldn’t keep my eyes open. Carol then carried me into my cage, which is slightly bigger than my previous one. It had lovely soft bedding and was near to a radiator so that I didn’t get cold. They also gave me a big toy which had a warm inside. Carol said it was a ‘Snoozy’ which had a built in radiator inside his tummy. This was for me to cuddle up to so that I could keep warm. I really love this snoozy because it’s like being with one of my sisters and brothers, only better because it doesn’t keep walking over me.
I love my new home.
