Cardigan Welsh Corgi

Cardigan Welsh CorgiThe Cardigan Welsh Corgi is believed to be the older of the two Corgi breeds, and its name is derived from the Celtic word for dog.  It is thought that they were originally used as cattle herders in Wales, where they used to run between the cattle, nippping the heels of any cattle who strayed out of line.  Being short legged they were able to move quickly between the cattle to avoid any kicks.   The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is slightly less outgoing than the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, but is remains a loyal and affectionate dog.  Despite their small legs, Corgis need regular exercise and frequent grooming as they do tend to lose a lot of hair.

The Cardigan Welsh Corgi stands at around 25-32 cm in height, with a weight of approximately 8-12kg.  Its coat is short and rough and can be any colour except all white, although white markings are usual.

What Eddie likes about the Cardigan Welsh Corgi - I haven’t met any Corgis yet, so I can’t really comment on them.

What Eddie dislikes about the Cardigan Welsh Corgi - Again, I don’t know because I haven’t met any.  I think they are too posh for me because they are always with the Queen.
